Career & Technical Education
.
Career and Technical Education courses have as their specific objectives the preparation of students to become capable employees in their chosen career. This career could be started right after high school, after a two-year associate degree, or a four-year college degree program. The importance of these offerings lies in the career focus. Students will get an inside look into careers in an area of their interest.
Criteria to be considered in a student’s selection for a particular program would be the degree of success in prerequisite courses, the results of screening tests, and the sincerity of the individual’s desire to prepare for a career in the selected field.
Students enrolled in Career and Technical courses are encouraged to participate in the student’s professional organizations (i.e.Skills USA, BPA, FCCLA). The respective state and national dues are included in the appropriate course fees. This provides a way for students to grow in human relations and compete at various levels with other students.
Students who cannot meet the suggested recommendations for a career and technical area of interest should consult with their counselor for more information because prerequisites may be waived under very special circumstances.
